Modernize · Legacy app modernization
Move your legacy app to a modern stack, without a risky rewrite.
Old frameworks, unsupported runtimes, and code only one person understands. We migrate it piece by piece, with the old and new systems running side by side until the switch is safe.
Sound familiar?
Signs you need this.
- The framework or runtime is out of support and no longer gets security patches.
- Small changes take weeks because nobody wants to touch the code.
- Hosting is expensive, manual, or tied to a single server.
- Hiring is hard because the stack is outdated.
What we do
From where you are to a new orbit.
01
Map the system
Read the code, trace the data, and document what the app actually does, including the parts nobody wrote down.
02
Choose the target
A modern, well-supported stack that fits your team. Usually TypeScript, Next.js or Node, and Postgres.
03
Migrate in slices
Replace one feature or route at a time behind the same front door, so users never notice a big-bang switch.
04
Test old against new
Automated tests that compare behaviour between the two systems before each slice goes live.
05
Move hosting
Containerised or serverless deployment with CI/CD, monitoring, and backups from day one.
06
Retire the old system
Switch off the legacy app only once everything has moved and been verified.
How we keep it safe
Your business keeps running the whole time.
Modernization projects fail when they try to switch everything at once. Ours are built not to.
No big-bang cutover
Old and new run side by side, and we move one slice at a time.
A rollback for every step
Each cutover is rehearsed, with a tested way back if anything looks wrong.
Verified, not assumed
Automated checks compare old and new behaviour and data before anything goes live.
Secure by default
Every new system passes the Cosmerg Security Standard before launch.
What you get
Everything needed to run it without us.
Whether you stay in Orbit or take it from here, it's all yours from day one.
- A modern codebase in your repository, with tests
- CI/CD, monitoring, and backups
- Architecture notes and a runbook
- The legacy system safely decommissioned
FAQ
Common questions.
Do you rewrite everything from scratch?
Rarely. A full rewrite is the riskiest option. We migrate in slices and keep what still works, so you get value early and can stop at any point.
Will there be downtime?
We plan for none. Old and new run side by side, and each cutover has a tested rollback.
What languages and frameworks can you migrate from?
Most web stacks: PHP, older Java and .NET, Ruby on Rails, AngularJS, jQuery front ends, and more. The Assessment tells you exactly what's involved.
Let's move it to a new orbit.
Start with an Assessment: a staged plan and a fixed quote, with its fee credited toward the project.
