Ai-Mozhiyil: write and read in any app, in your own language

A content writer in Canada had an idea: type in Tamil, even in English letters, and get polished text in any language, right where you're writing. We built Ai-Mozhiyil, an AI translator for desktop and mobile with its own keyboard. The MVP is delivered and we're still building with the client.

The spark

The idea.

  • Many people think and type in their own language, often in English letters, like Tamil written as "Tanglish".
  • Copying text into a translator and back breaks the flow of writing an email, a post, or a chat reply.
  • Translators get the words right but miss the tone: formal for a manager, casual for a friend.
  • Voice typing doesn't support languages like Tamil, Sinhala, or Malayalam well.

What we did

Into orbit, step by step.

  1. Map

Turned the idea into three everyday jobs: write in your language, compose a message from a short description, and read foreign text in your own language.

  2. Build

Delivered the MVP: a desktop app opened with a hotkey from any app, with tone control, mixed-language output like Tanglish, and a grammar check. One shared core keeps behaviour the same on every platform.

  3. Launch

Extended it to iPhone and Android: photo translation for signs and menus, sharing in from other apps, a custom keyboard that translates inside any app, and voice input.

  4. Orbit

Still building with the client. Users choose their AI provider, including local models, and API keys stay in the device's secure storage.
